What goes into a shower before the tile.

The old bathroom comes out, and new water lines run along the block wall.
The valve and the lines up to the shower head are set in the wall before it closes up.
The shower floor gets a mortar bed, sloped down to the drain.
Cement board goes up on the shower walls, with a niche framed in.
A waterproofing membrane covers the walls, the niche and the floor. Then the tile goes on.
